Our Approach

At Amana, we design a unique Islamic environment that is warm, safe and inviting for families and their precious children. Our centre provides a program that organically emerges with the diverse children and families we serve.  We derive inspiration from Flight - Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework and the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, which guides our program planning. Play is child-directed and teacher-guided. Adult-directed themes will not lead our programming; instead, educators are considered co-constructors of the program alongside children, families, and professionals. Educators take the role of co-learner, co-researcher, and co-imaginers; therefore, planning thoughtful, various learning opportunities that will connect with your child's evolving needs, interests, and abilities. Islamic aspects of the program naturally emerge and foster connection and understanding of Allah's (سبحانه وتعالىٰ‎) beautiful names and attributes. Our unique approach encourages developing critical thinking, problem-solving, compassion, cooperation, self-esteem, independence and more. When you entrust your child to our care, feel assured that we aim to stimulate, enhance, and nurture their social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs with developmentally appropriate methods to promote their well-being and the love of learning.

Within an intentionally designed space that nurtures individual development, children at Amana actively engage in various play experiences that will guide them to naturally develop many of the following skills and concepts to thrive and succeed.

  • Islamic beliefs and values

  • Stories from the Quran

  • Gross and fine motor skills

  • English/Arabic-pre-literacy skills

  • English/Arabic-pre-numeracy skills

  • Science concepts

  • Creative expression

  • Pro-social-emotional behaviours

  • Cultural diversity

  • Daily life skills

It must not be forgotten that the basic law of children’s creativity is that its value lies not in its results, not in the product of creation, but in the process itself. It is not important what the children create, but that they do create, that they exercise and implement their creative imagination.” Lev Vygotsky

Testimonial

"Ms. Amal is absolutely amazing. Our daughter did not enjoy her previous preschool and would often cry when we mentioned school. After attending Ms. Amal's preschool, she loved every minute of it and is excited about going to school. Ms. Amal makes learning fun for the kids and introduces Islamic learning in a manner that is completely natural and not forced. My daughters memorized many day-day duas by just attending preschool. I wish Ms. Amal would open up a full school KG-12 for kids to continue in this wonderful learning environment." Noreen
